In 2002 the line was 2 200 francs per month, for someone living alone, and for families with two children it was 4 600 francs.

Swiss families were considered poor if they did not reach the salary average of the country.

There is a group called the “Working poor”, these people are the ones who have jobs but still live under the poverty line. Apparently in 2005, 4.2% og the people who are between 20 and 59 came into this category, this has changed from in 2004 when it was 4.5%.Image

There is also the “Welfare Benefits” which is for the people who are below the minimum income for being. In 2005, 3.3% of the population was like this. Image
